OK, I have an issue I need to tackle. Its Taco Bell and its tacos and taco salads. They aren’t exactly diet food nor are they really low-calorie and low carb.
But for some reason I keep eating them. It has become an easy solution for those moments when we need something quick and cheap. It doesn’t help there is one close to the house. We have eaten there twice in three days.
I keep telling myself, it is OK because it isn’t a burger and fries (which I really want). But it isn’t OK because they aren’t any better for me. I know that as the month progresses, and my stress level increases, it will be easier and easier to eat the wrong things and then try to justify it.
It is a sign that I need to try harder. I need to find other ways to have quick easy food that is better for me. Any suggestions?

You can get the ingredients, have them cut and ready, for your own home made taco salad. (I’m a taco salad junkie) I use lean hamburger, costlier I know, the Mexican style 4 cheese, grated, lots of salad munchies, sprinkled with fresh lime juice, and low fat sour cream. I like a few tortilla chips crumbled and tossed in, plus salsa, and I’m set to go. I go big on the salad part, ie lettuce, tomatoes, green onions, olives, etc. and not so much seasoned hamburger.
I think anything we can make at home, tacos included, are healthier than fast food. As you said, it takes trying harder because there is preparation involved.
It seems you know what to do, and want to eat more healthy. That’s a great start. And yeah, stress eating is the worse kind because you want to grab anything! Triscuits have more fiber than some crackers. Mozzarella cheese sticks have less fat. Ice cold water with just a touch of juice makes a nice very low calorie drink. Good luck on your journey into finding out what your body needs and taking care of yourself.
That sounds like a good idea. And I do like sour cream and salsa on things!
And I might be able to do that using the frozen fajita chicken.
I do OK when I have time, but boy, when I don’t have time I’m in a pickle!
This may help you wean yourself off Taco Bell. Next time you get some “food” there, stick around. Open the bag up and take a deeeeeep breath of it. Then head outside, near their dumpster on a warm day. Now, take a whiff of THAT. It smells the same. If you don’t quite get the proper effect, ask an employee to open the dumpster up for you. THEN take a good whiff. Yeah. It does smell the same. That alone has kept me away from Taco Bell since 1993.
