The Beer Question

This week’s Food Junkie Discovery is more of a question..what do you think about beer as a healthy or diet beverage. There is a post floating around talking about Guinness and that has prompted this question.

We see the ads for light beer with only 64 calories…but is beer the best choice we have when we are watching our weight and want to indulge with an adult beverage?

Interesting question but I don’t think it would be wise to use beer as a “meal replacement” diet drink. I think the real misadventure would be when you got back to the office.
If you really want a low calorie healthful drink to go with your meal, try water. It helps with digestion, can wake you up when you are tired and has zero calories!

I don’t like beer but give me a healthy tequilla sunrise and I am so into healthy drinking.

Regular beer is packed full of carbs & calories, and light beer is nasty.

    So…..I’d say no.

If you want an adult beverage, I’d go with spirits mixed with fruit juice of some sort.

If you want beer to be healthy try hashing. Hashers run miles at a time and drink beer at stops along the way in one grand misadventure. Added bonus, you get to sings songs about wayfaring friends from Nantucket. Be warned though hashing is not for the prim proper or faint of heart, but it’s great fun. For more info check out this wiki link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_House_Harriers believe it or not there is a local group with several upcoming events they can be found through yahoo groups.

You can drink your beer and burn off the calories at the same time usually. Just beware of the end there is usually some sort of banquet, and I don’t mean Coors.
