Question: I’m wondering if the Weyerhaeuser Company pays the Oregon State Police any amount of money during bow season, while the Dellwood and Allegany timber lands are closed. I know the state police patrols the timberlands for Weyerhaeuser. I also know the company has its own security.
Answer: As with other services provided by the Oregon State Police, patrolling Weyerhaeuser lands comes out of the agency’s budget, said OSP Game Sgt. Lowell Lea.
“No, they don’t pay us anything,” he said. “We respond to complaints and any requests to be out there.”
Sgt. Lea explained that troopers go out to the Weyerhaeuser property all year round in response to emergency calls and complaints. He added that troopers do the same for other land owners, even to deal with trespassing issues during hunting season.
