John Gunther:

In my visits to Sandpines, no hole has treated me as well as No. 18. Last week, I was able to cut the corner of the lake, push my 6-iron second shot just right of the green, chip on and make a putt for birdie. It gave me a 44 on the back nine and three birdies on the finishing hole in my career - my most for any hole anywhere.

Ron Jackimowicz:

No guesswork here. No. 16. My first birdie in 10 years. Pars at 13 and 17 make them close runners up.

In golf, whenever a player intends to make a full swing the rule of thumb is that you should stand with your feet, knees, hips and shoulders on a line that is parallel to the line of shot - a position described as being "square" to the target.

Read story Strong bunker play requires good set-up and practice By Kevin Wheeler, Forest Hills Golf Pro Publisehd: Friday, June 12, 2009

Bunker play is an important part of scoring on the golf course. Better players would rather be in the sand than in the rough, because it is easier to judge a bunker shot than the thickness of the rough.
