Founding members of Coos Head Food Store had a vision for the store to be a community resource.
The store has no one owner, but an unlimited number of potential members.
Membership participation is optional and no one is excluded from shopping at Coos Head Food Store.
Becoming a member is an opportunity to invest in this place to shop for organic, local, and fair trade products. Members have some say in their store and elect the board of directors that over see the business.
Coos Head Food Store offers certified organically-grown produce, local eggs, grass-fed buffalo, freshly-made carrot and wheat grass juice, fair trade coffee, organic milk, and the best locally- baked bread, as well as nutritional supplements, environmentally-friendly cleaning products, allergy and gluten-free products, additive-free groceries, over 300 bulk food items, brewing supplies and pet food. Refreshing filtered water is on tap.
A mural of fresh produce adorns the bright yellow storefront located in historic downtown North Bend one block south of the North Bend library on hwy101 south. A beautiful example of member participation, this original work was donated by Peggy O Neal of WOW arts and exhibits.
The store is open to all, has been a group effort since the beginning, and continues to be thanks to the community support through out all these years.
For those who have not yet had the experience to visit us we would like to welcome you. February 12th will be a day of celebration with samples and a wine tasting at the end of the day.
