A variety of those less-invasive laparoscopic procedures are now available in Bandon under the skilled hands of Dr. Steve Riddick at Southern Coos Hospital and Health Center.Dr. Riddick is Board Certified in thoracic surgery as well as general surgery. Current services at Southern Coos include general surgical procedures and endoscopic procedures and studies.
The surgery room at Southern Coos is fully endowed with the equipment necessary for laparoscopy and thoracoscopy. Many abdominal procedures, including gall bladder removal, hernia repair and appendectomies can be accomplished utilizing keyhole laparoscopic incisions. Biopsies and abdominal explorations, bronchoscopy to diagnose and treat problems with the airway, and other scope assessments are all among the procedures offered.
Dr. Riddick comes to Bandon from Georgia. Ivy League educated, Dr. Riddick is a former Naval Officer, General Medical Officer on the USS Carl Vinson and the General Surgeon aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. Dr. Riddick has12 years experience in cardiovascular surgery in addition to general surgery.
Dr. Riddick's office is located in the Southern Coos Specialty Outpatient Clinic at the end of 11th Street. Generally, patients are referred through primary care physicians and the hospital's staff physician, Dr. Sandra Wilson, hospitalist.
