The
float by Coos Head Food Store in North Bend held
the attention of the parade watchers on Saturday
with this Noah's Ark full of little sprouts and
assorted vegetables. In the front of the ark was
a cow.

Hundreds of people sat along Virginia Street
and U.S. Highway 101 as the North Bend Centennial
parade passed by. The weather cooperated with
temperatures in the low 70's and a gentle breeze.

Bend citizens were honored Friday evening by the
city at the North Bend Library. Mayor Rick Wetherell
introduced Emily Backues and David Varoujean as
North Bend High SchoolÕs
outstanding graduates of 2003; presented the Lifetime
Achievement award to former mayor and city councilor
Bill Smith; honored
Co-citizens of the Year, Richard and Judith Wagner;
and recognized the Boynton/Graham Family for Continuing
Contributions to the city of North Bend for three
generations, which includes Fire Chief Scott Graham.
The Wagners, right helped serve the
refreshments with the July Jubilee princesses.
