With
most of the animal judging done for the week,
members of the Twin Oaks Dairy Club play a game
of golf in the animal barn Friday afternoon. From
left, Danny Arriola, Justin Jorgenson, Jake Cochran,
Donna Cochran and Marley Kennedy play a game of
cards with the winner determined by whoever has
the lowest score, like the game of golf.

In
the Oaks Pavilion Friday, Don Todd overlooks many
of the expressive arts exhibits at the Coos County
Fair. Todd is a member of the Oregon Coast Photographers'
Association.The groupÕs members are the
superintendents of the photo exhibits at the fair.
The photos are along the balcony above the canned
foods, cakes, cookies, paintings, woodcarvings,
textiles and others exhibits.

Jars of jam and jelly, line shelves in the Oaks
Pavilion, many with ribbons won by the cooks who
created them.

Two
cages with three rabbits in each wait
for the rabbit and cavy judge, Vern Palmblad,
during the 3-rabbit fryer contest. Three
rabbits are shown to the judge to show
consistency in raising the animals for
their meat.

Dian
Pendergrass, upper left, dishes out a slice of
apple pie to seven contest judges Friday at the
Coos County Fair. They received 51 pies this year,
and several teams of judges have been whittling
the number down for a few during the fair. Saturday,
the final pies will be judged and the winner awarded
a new stove as first prize. The judging took place
inside the Davenport Building.
Below, Sunshine Hanks, 11, and her aunt Margie
Eads, from Thorne Bay, Alaska, check out the chickens
and other fowl in their cages at the fair Friday
afternoon. The two were visiting family in the
area and spent the day at the fair.
