Branson took first place in the 13-to-18 age division in Reedsports first live gingerbread house building contest, held on Dec. 6 during the 42nd-annual Holiday Bazaar at the Reedsport Community Center. Second place in that age group went to Sara Tindall, whose entry also took the Peoples Choice award. Taylor Palermo took first place in the Professional category. The event was sponsored by the Reedsport-Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce. |

| Nathan Tindall, 11, says the key to making a great gingerbread house is in the quality of the food coloring. He recommends using a concentrated paste. Here he makes sure the roof will stay in position. Nathans trees are upside-down sugar cones covered with green icing. Other decorations are from after-dinner mints, M&Ms, Lifesavers and other candies. It took Nathan more than five hours to construct his house. Nathan said you have to be patient and let the icing set up to do its job of holding the pieces together. |

| Jenny Blood, who took first place in the adult division, works on her gingerbread house at the Reedsport Community Building during the communitys 42nd-annual Holiday Bazaar. A gingerbread house contest is a traditional part of the event, but this was the first year a live contest was held. Entrants were allowed make the foundations of their gingerbread structures at home, but all other construction had to be done on site, under the watchful eyes of the judges. Blood used many kinds of hard and soft candy on her house and populated her creation with people and animals made from Marzipan. |
