At
right, Jenifer Smith, 17, Coos Bay, performs Wednesday
for the judge in the western equitation competition.
Smith was judged on how well she controlled the
horse and carried herself in the saddle. Above left,
she leans down to accept the first place blue ribbon
from the judge. Smith is part of a group of riders
called the Rock N Riders.

Above:
Catherine Lowe, 6, North Bend, sews on a quilt
at the Coos County Fair. This was the first quilt
she had worked but she did enter other items in
the fair: a pincushion and a jacket cover for
a book. Lowe is the youngest member of the Sand-N-Sea
Quilts. When finished, this quilt will go to a
hospital.

This handmade quilt, with its bright colors, depicticting
cats with fish swimming around, was made by Barbara
Jones of North Bend.

This ride, 1001 Nachts German
for
nights takes the children
on a thrill ride through the air at the Coos
County Fair. The kids on this ride are laughing
and shouting for more. More rides, including
the Zipper, arrived on Wednesday, the second
day of the fair.
