Harbor Lights Middle School

Haily Hewitson Hailey Hewitson instantly made a favorable first impression when she moved to Bandon from Utah two years ago. An engaging girl who possesses many gifts and abilities, she is very well-liked by her peers. Hailey consistently pursues excellence, not only in academics, but also in sports. In Utah, she excelled at downhill skiing and here at Harbor Lights Middle School, she has participated in cross country, basketball and track. She obviously brought those skiing talents with her to Bandon and applied them to other sports! Hailey is known as an excellent teammate and is easily coached. Hailey's grades are exemplary. Since enrolling as a student at Harbor Lights Middle School, she has never failed to qualify for honor roll. She is a superior student who always maintains high personal standards. This quality of Hailey's was further exemplified recently, when she opted to retake a very long State of Oregon Reading Assessment in order to earn an Exceeds-the-Benchmark score. With her dedication and determination she is well on the path to a very successful high school experience. Hailey is the oldest of three, with two younger brothers who definitely have a tough act to follow! Her parents are Curtis and Rose Hewitson of Bandon.

Kady Valentine Kady Valentine is a joy to teach. Kady, who has been a student in Bandon schools since kindergarten, has a wonderful sense of humor that brightens our classes. She earns excellent grades and can easily work in any kind of format, be it her own or in a group setting. Kady has consistently maintained honor roll status throughout grades five, six, seven and eight. This quality spills over to her involvement in sports. She participated in volleyball, basketball and track in both the seventh and eighth grades. Kady puts in her best efforts no matter what position she's assigned to play. She always gives 100 percent. Kady is one of those rare people who can be counted on to get the job done correctly and efficiently. This valuable trait will continue to serve Kady well in the future. Kady has one older sister, Briana, who graduated from Bandon High School in June. We have no doubt that Kady will follow in her sister's footsteps as an excellent and contributing student at Bandon High School next fall. Kady is the daughter of Patrick and Lina Valentine of Bandon.
