I know that one of the hardest things to overcome during my quest will be my routines.
Life is full of routine, everyone follows a daily pattern. Routine provides security and a sense of a job well done at the end of the day.
Unfortunately smoking is a huge part of that routine. I’ll have a cig before I shower in the morning, before getting to work, before and after a meal and several throughout the day and into the evening. I’ll need to revamp my daily rituals to get to where I want to be…smoke free.
Now this is gonna get tricky, I can’t get away with not doing the norm. The association of these activities with my smoking is what I will need to change in order to give me a fighting chance against the relentless urge to light up. I do have a solution for one. I am totally a gum chewer, so I will replace my before and after meal smoking with a fresh stick of spearmint gum. And I will more then likely chomp down several more pieces during the day. Stay tuned for more of my routine changes and how these changes effect my day overall, good or bad.
Day 1 update – finished the day smoking 11 cigs. Not close to my goal yet I still am satisfied.
