Teen Scarred After Artist Inks 56 Tattoos on Face

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Ok I have to admit I came across this one by accident but it was too good to pass up. My first question is this: Would you trust the tattoo artist below to tattoo stars on YOUR face? WOW

She's a star now, or not!

She's a star now, or not!

A teenager got the shock of her life when she asked for a few small tattoo stars and woke up to find half her face was covered in them.

Kimberley Vlaeminck, 18, is now suing the tattoo artist who she claims went way beyond what she had asked for.

The Belgian teen says she woke up in pain after falling asleep as Rouslan Toumaniantz drew the permanent ink designs.

She then discovered 56 “frightening” black stars of different sizes from her nose to ear and brow to chin.

“I wanted him to tattoo on just three little points but he suggested three stars, saying it would look prettier,” Vlaeminck said.

“When he started the tattooing I didn’t want to feel the pain and so I went to sleep. I woke up when he was starting to tattoo my nose and I saw what he had already done. I counted 56 stars, it’s frightening.”

But Toumaniantz, who works in the town of Courtrai, denied that his client had fallen asleep and said he fulfilled her request.
“She was awake the whole time,” he said. “I don’t use hypnosis or drugs. She agreed to it. The problems started when her father and his friend saw the tattoos.”

Vlaeminck, from the city of Kortrijk, about 50 miles north-west of Brussels, said she wanted to keep the tattoos on her forehead but would have the rest removed.

UPDATE: It appears that this girl has recanted her story and now admits she was awake for the whole thing and only made up the story about sleeping because her father was furious.

Lost Boy Found After 50 Years, WOW

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

I am not sure if this is actually true or not as they are waiting on DNA but being lost for 50+ years has to be a record!

I think he looks older now :)

KALKASKA, Mich. (AP) — A Michigan man said Wednesday that pictures he found online led him to believe he could be the 2-year-old boy who vanished more than a half-century ago from a bakery on New York’s Long Island.

John Robert Barnes told The Associated Press he was doing online research within the past year to try to figure out who he really was, saying that from childhood he never felt as though he fit in with the family that raised him.

Barnes saw pictures of the missing boy’s mother when she was a young adult, thought the woman resembled himself at the same age and started to believe he might be Stephen Damman, who disappeared in 1955.

‘Burning man’ delivers cake to firefighters

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Okay, I asked for it and here it is.   Erica from the Montana Standard took me up on the offer to post some weird news and even included a video!  Thanks Erica, this is a hot story!

James Kellogh, a local stuntman and baker from Butte, Mont., lights himself on fire then presents a fire truck-shaped cake to area firefighters for their work in the community

Combine a stuntman and a baker and what do you get? A dangerous way of delivering a cake.

James Kellogh turned himself into a human candle Wednesday morning and presented a cake to the Butte-Silver Bow Fire Department out of appreciation for their work in battling recent fires.

“We just want to say ‘thank you’ to them for all they do and for saving the Uptown businesses (from fire),” Kellogh said.

Kellogh works as a baker at Columbian Garden Espresso and with stuntman Spanky Spangler. He designed the vanilla and chocolate cake to resemble the fire department’s new ladder truck. Firefighters quickly used a fire hose from the one of their trucks to extinguish Kellogh.

Kellogh said he wanted to do something for the firefighters after watching them battle the fire at the Whalen Tire warehouse last week. The massive fire ignited at the warehouse at Utah and Iron just after 3 a.m. June 11, and completely gutted the large structure.

Kellogh lauded the firefighters for their efforts in preventing the warehouse fire from spreading to other businesses in the area.

Scientists clone a 9/11 search dog for free for ex-Canadian policeman who won contest

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Okay this is pretty weird.  There was actually a contest held to clone a pet for free.  What’s next cloning the winning lottery ticket, SIGN ME UP!

Good thing it didn't end up being a 3 headed dog!

Good thing it didn't end up being a 3 headed dog!

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Scientists in California say they have cloned a dog that helped with search-and-rescue after the New York terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Five German shepherd puppies cloned from a dog named Trakr have been delivered to owner James Symington, a former police officer in Halifax, Nova Scotia, who now lives in Los Angeles.

Before Trakr died in April at age 16, Symington entered a contest sponsored by the California company BioArts International that offered to clone a pet dog for free.

Symington took Trakr to New York after the World Trade Center collapsed and said Trakr helped find one woman who was still alive.

Symington was briefly in hot water for working at the Trade Center while he was supposed to be on medical leave.
