Talk about social, job applicants being asked for social networking site password?

Friday, June 19th, 2009

What the heck?  If I am looking for a job I certainly don’t want to share all the bad things in my facebook and myspace accounts.   Hmmm maybe people should re-think what they do online a bit

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Job applicants with the city of Bozeman are finding that their private Internet discussions and pictures may not be so private after all.

The city is asking job seekers for the user names and passwords to Internet social networking or Web groups to which they belong. The decision is sparking an outcry from those who say the policy goes way too far.

LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — The Cowlitz County sheriff’s office said a driver went at least three miles on I-5 near Castle Rock in reverse. Deputy Ryan Cruser said a 41-year-old Canadian was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Thursday after his car stopped in the middle of the northbound lanes. He laughed as deputies approached and refused to get out his rented car.

The Daily News of Longview reports deputies broke a window and used a Taser to subdue him. He was held for a mental evaluation.

A deal to die for: Indianapolis cemetery holds `buy 1, get 1 free’ sale on select grave sites

Friday, June 19th, 2009

BOGO is something you love to see at the local grocery store, and KIA even tried it on the car lot, but CEMETERY plots, that’s weird!

Die twice for the same price?

Die twice for the same price?

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — It’s a buy-one, get-one-free sale – at a cemetery, of all places. Memorial Park Cemetery on Indianapolis’ far east side is offering plots at the bargain-basement price in one section of its grounds. It’s not another telling sign of the recession. General Manager Mark McCronklin says it’s a promotion the cemetery has run for several years around Memorial Day.
