Ark. court rejects custody after mom shows up for psychological evaluation after 13 beers

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

After 13 beers the fact that she made it to the psychological evaluation, let alone failed it.  I guess she was using the beer to bolster her courage.  OOOPs, it backfired!

FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) — A mother who drank 13 beers before a psychological evaluation failed to recover custody of her three young children despite claiming she wasn’t drunk because she “can drink like a fish.” The woman wanted to get the children back from her husband’s stepmother.

The Arkansas Court of Appeals rejected her Wednesday, citing addictions, frequent absences and criminal activity to support her habits. It said the woman made no meaningful efforts to restructure her life.

The children are ages 6, 4 and 4. The state took custody in 2007 when the woman’s mother said she could no longer care for the children. Human Services workers later won an order declaring the children’s mother unfit and want to see the children adopted.

Mass. man arrested after allegedly placing an ad on Craigslist selling marijuana

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Problem: I need to move some more pot because walk-in traffic is down.  Solution: Craigslist, no one but dopers read this right (says the dope seller).  All I have to say is what a dope.

busted1QUINCY, Mass. (AP) — A man has been arrested after he allegedly placed an advertisement on Craigslist selling marijuana. Police said undercover detectives responded to the advertisement and bought a small bag of pot from 30-year-old Christopher Gray for $45.

According to police, Christopher Gray posted the advertisement on the online classified site with the words “420 help is here.” The item read “Give me a ring if you need some help,” and listed a phone number, which a detective called Friday and arranged for a meeting with Gray in Quincy.

The term “420″ is believed to stem from the time of day that smokers at a California high school in 1971 would meet to smoke pot.

A telephone listing for Gray was disconnected and it was unclear if he had an attorney.

Colorado police say man stole a city steamroller for a late-night joyride

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Okay so this guy borrowed a steamroller and went for a short jaunt around the city.  You know as well as I do that every guy in America wants to drive one of these, and the can had it coming!

Looks like a parking lot to me

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Boulder police are looking for a man they said stole a city steamroller for a late-night joyride. Some Boulder residents were awakened at about 2 a.m. Tuesday by the rumbling of a steamroller down a neighborhood street. Witnesses told police they saw a man driving the steamroller before crashing it into a can and fleeing.

Both vehicles suffered minor damage, but no one was hurt. Boulder Police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley said witnesses couldn’t agree on a description or approximate age of the driver. Officials haven’t said how they think the steamroller was taken from the city’s Public Works Department.

North Dakota woman accused of breast-feeding child while drunk pleads guilty to neglect charge

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Shocking, that is the only word that came to mind when I read this story! What kind of mother would do this while drunk? Shame on her!

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota woman accused of breast-feeding her 6-week-old baby while drunk has pleaded guilty to child neglect.

Twenty-six-year-old Stacey Anvarinia could face up to five years in prison when she’s sentenced on the felony charge in August.

Judge Sonja Clapp says Anvarinia will not have to register as an offender against children.

Police officers who responded to a domestic disturbance call at Anvarinia’s home on April 13 say they saw an intoxicated Anvarinia breast feeding. Health officials say alcohol consumed by breast-feeding mothers can be absorbed into an infant’s system.

Attorneys believe it’s the first such case prosecuted in North Dakota.
