Cops: Woman smuggled drugs to inmate with kiss

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Love knows no bounds it seems and no bond is stronger than one that leads you to joining someone in prison.   I say throw the book at her.

MERCER, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania woman has been ordered to stand trial on charges she passed a drug-filled balloon to a state prison inmate while kissing him. State police said guards at the State Correctional Institution-Mercer became suspicious when an inmate appeared to swallow something after a prolonged kiss with a visitor on Oct. 19.

When the inmate wouldn’t tell guards what he swallowed, they put him in a cell where they could monitor his bathroom visits and found a balloon filled with marijuana three days later.

Police charged the inmate, and the woman with conspiracy to smuggle contraband and other charges. Both are 41 years old.

A district judge ordered them to stand trial at a hearing on Monday.

Indoor marijuana farm found near police station

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

I am thinking this is pretty smart.  If you can grow within 25 feet of a police station and they can’t detect the smell then it’s a good place because the police aren’t that sharp.  And who would bust in and try to rob a grow operation within 25 feet of a police department?

marijuana-growing-near-police-stationLOS ANGELES (AP) — Officials said an elaborate marijuana growing site was found in an industrial building 25 feet from the back door of the Topanga police station in Los Angeles, and three people are under arrest. Officer Karen Rayner said the pot was discovered Wednesday when a search warrant was served at an address adjacent to the station in Canoga Park.

The indoor marijuana farm included lights, automated irrigation and a ventilation system. Investigators said it had been there for at least eight months.

The investigation began a week ago, when officers smelled marijuana in the police station parking lot.

The suspects’ names have not been released. Rayner says they face a number of narcotics charges.

Man accused of DUI for 3rd time in 17 days

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

You’d have thought they would have done something about this man when the second DUI was issued.   It’s only a matter of time till this person injures himself or someone else, get him off the streets!

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A 50-year-old Reno man has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving for the third time in less than three weeks. Reno Police Sgt. Tom Robinson said the man was stopped Monday afternoon on a U.S. Highway 395 off-ramp on the south end of town after a concerned citizen alerted police about his erratic driving. He said a check of the man’s police record found he had been arrested on the same charge two other times since Oct. 2.

Robinson said officers contacted the city attorney, who contacted a Reno municipal court judge so the man’s bail would be raised to $25,000. The judge also ordered that it be paid in cash rather than the usual practice of posting a bond for 10 percent of the total pending a court hearing.

Police: Man busted with weed stuck to forehead

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Now as a kid I remember playing the card game ‘indian’ by holding a card to my forehead but I’d have never used bags of pot to play.  Here’s your sign pot head!

LEBANON, Pa. (AP) — Police in central Pennsylvania say they’ve nabbed a real pothead. They said an officer spotted 29-year-old Cesar Lopez inside a convenience store with a bag of marijuana stuck to his forehead. Investigators said Lopez was seen peering inside his baseball cap early Saturday morning in Lebanon, about 75 miles northwest of Philadelphia. When Lopez looked up, the officer noticed a small plastic bag appearing to contain marijuana stuck to his forehead.

Police said the officer peeled the bag off Lopez’s forehead and placed him under arrest. He has been charged with drug possession. Police do not know whether Lopez has an attorney.

Authorities say the sweatband of a baseball cap is a frequent hiding place for drugs.
