Woman calls 911 to report herself as drunk driver

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Don’t mess with me, I am drunk, driving and not afraid to turn myself in.  This lady did just exactly that, talk about weird.

NEILSVILLE, Wis. (AP) — The call came into the 911 dispatcher: “I don’t want to hurt anybody. I’m drunk.” And with that, Mary Strey, 49, of Granton, reported herself as a drunken driver about three miles northeast of Neilsville in central Wisconsin.

Clark County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Jim Backus said Monday that Strey’s call on Oct. 24 led deputies to cite her for misdemeanor drunken driving with a blood-alcohol level double the legal limit to drive. She makes her first court appearance Dec. 10.

Backus said drunken drivers reporting themselves is rare.

In the 911 call, Strey said she wanted to report a drunken driver and the dispatcher asked if she was behind the suspect vehicle. “I am them,” Strey said. She then followed the dispatcher’s advice to pull over and turn on her flashers, telling him she had been “drinking all night long.”

Man arrested for 22nd drunk driving offense

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Holy cow batman this guy blew a .393 blood alcohol level.  At that point he’s his own bottle of booze!   After 22 offenses you’d think somewhere along the line he’d have gotten help or some state agency would force help on him

ESPANOLA, N.M. (AP) — Police said a man was arrested on Monday for his 22nd drunken driving offense – and his blood-alcohol content tested almost five times higher than New Mexico’s legal limit. State Police Lt. Eric Garcia said an officer pulled up to a car parked along a highway and found a 51-year-old man on the ground near his vehicle.

“He was coherent,” Garcia said. “He showed signs of slurred speech, as might be normal for any DWI arrest, which led the officer to believe he might be driving under the influence.”

Garcia said the suspect had to be taken by ambulance to Christus St. Vincent hospital in Santa Fe, where a blood-alcohol analysis showed a content level of .393 percent. New Mexico’s limit for presumed intoxication is .08 percent.

Police said records showed the man has been arrested five times in New Mexico and at least 16 times elsewhere.

The suspect, who faces a felony DWI charge, was booked into the Santa Fe County jail.

Garcia said records showed the man faces pending DWI charges in Angel Fire and Espanola. He also was served with arrest warrants from San Miguel, Bernalillo and Sandoval Counties – all on DWI-related charges.

Garcia didn’t know if the man had any prior DWI convictions.

Man on lawnmower during beer run charged with DUI

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

You know you have either a drinking problem or a supply problem if you are taking your riding lawnmower for your next brewsky! They should have ticketed him for driving under the posted speed limit too.

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) — With a revoked license because of a previous drunken-driving conviction, Dennis Cretton shouldn’t drive. But authorities said that didn’t stop the 49-year-old man from drunkenly driving up to a gas station for more beer – on his yellow riding lawnmower.

Cretton was charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence after neighbors reported he was weaving in and out of traffic on his lawnmower Friday night.
