Woman calls 911 to report herself as drunk driver

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Don’t mess with me, I am drunk, driving and not afraid to turn myself in.  This lady did just exactly that, talk about weird.

NEILSVILLE, Wis. (AP) — The call came into the 911 dispatcher: “I don’t want to hurt anybody. I’m drunk.” And with that, Mary Strey, 49, of Granton, reported herself as a drunken driver about three miles northeast of Neilsville in central Wisconsin.

Clark County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Jim Backus said Monday that Strey’s call on Oct. 24 led deputies to cite her for misdemeanor drunken driving with a blood-alcohol level double the legal limit to drive. She makes her first court appearance Dec. 10.

Backus said drunken drivers reporting themselves is rare.

In the 911 call, Strey said she wanted to report a drunken driver and the dispatcher asked if she was behind the suspect vehicle. “I am them,” Strey said. She then followed the dispatcher’s advice to pull over and turn on her flashers, telling him she had been “drinking all night long.”

Man pleads guilty to DWI in motorized La-Z-Boy

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

This guy is an innovator, how cool to have made a motorized La-Z-Boy with stereo and cupholder.  It’s too bad he chose beer to use in the cupholder and of course there is the running into a parked car bit.   Can’t we give him some sort of prize before he does time?

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to driving his motorized La-Z-Boy chair while drunk. A criminal complaint says 62-year-old Dennis LeRoy Anderson told police he left a bar in the northern Minnesota town of Proctor on his chair after drinking eight or nine beers.

Prosecutors say Anderson’s blood alcohol content was 0.29, more than three times the legal limit, when he crashed into a parked vehicle in August 2008. He was not seriously injured.

Man accused of DUI for 3rd time in 17 days

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

You’d have thought they would have done something about this man when the second DUI was issued.   It’s only a matter of time till this person injures himself or someone else, get him off the streets!

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A 50-year-old Reno man has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving for the third time in less than three weeks. Reno Police Sgt. Tom Robinson said the man was stopped Monday afternoon on a U.S. Highway 395 off-ramp on the south end of town after a concerned citizen alerted police about his erratic driving. He said a check of the man’s police record found he had been arrested on the same charge two other times since Oct. 2.

Robinson said officers contacted the city attorney, who contacted a Reno municipal court judge so the man’s bail would be raised to $25,000. The judge also ordered that it be paid in cash rather than the usual practice of posting a bond for 10 percent of the total pending a court hearing.

Florida deputy pulls over a naked man riding a motorcycle, charges him with DUI

Friday, September 18th, 2009

That’s not something you see very often a 45 year old driving down the highway naked and intoxicated.   Having had the luck of being smacked by a bumble while holding my hand out the window at 55mph.  I am not sure how this would work naked on a motorcycle, but it could be ugly

OCALA, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a Florida man was charged with driving under the influence after he was spotted riding his motorcycle naked. The Marion County deputy was driving on Interstate 75 early Tuesday when he spotted what appeared to be a naked man on a motorcycle. The deputy caught up with 45-year-old J. Dante Krauss at a red light and stopped him.

Capt. Mike Rolls said Krauss could not explain where he was coming from or why he was naked. Rolls said the deputy asked him if he had been drinking, and he answered that he had. Breathalyzer tests revealed blood alcohol levels above .08, the state’s legal limit to drive.

Krauss was charged with what Rolls said turned out to be his fifth DUI. Jail records showed he was later released on $20,000 bail. They did not list an attorney and his phone number was not listed.
